Paraphrasing God’s Word

I’m not a ‘King James only’ Bible-lover, I have my favourite translation (New King James) but I don’t turn my nose up at other translations as it is the Holy Spirit who leads us into all truth, whether we read NKJ, NIV, ESV etc.  However, somewhere the line has to be drawn… I draw the line when it comes to The Message – which, by the way, is not a translation but a loose paraphrase.  I know The Message has been around for several years now, but something I came across today just had to be shared.  So I highlight something that is a bit more troubling that being a paraphrase, it’s a compromise… actually it’s a bit more sinister than that.  If any of you reading this post actually like The Message, then sorry but you are about to get uncomfortable.
I ask you to take a few minutes to read this:- What kind of message is The Message?

Truth matters… truth saves… truth redeems… truth is a Person.

The wonderful thing is this… Almighty God has preserved the true message of the Cross of Christ, and we can rejoice that we have the truth which sets us free!

Let’s be determined to hold onto Truth.

“I have not spoken in secret, from somewhere in a land of darkness; I have not said to Jacob’s descendants, ‘Seek me in vain.’ I, the Lord, speak the truth; I declare what is right” (Isaiah 45:19)
